The American Dream in the Selected Works of Classic American Literature (The Great Gatsby and Death of a Salesman): An Analysis
Abstract
One cannot talk about the dream of racial and economic equality without the name of Martin
Luther King coming to one’s mind and this dream is often associated with the American dream.
The phrase American Dream became popular when James Truslow in 1931 defined it. According
to him life should be richer and fuller for everyone irrespective of that if someone had been
lucky to be born in a house of high birth or position. With the passage of time, the concept of
American dream has become more concentrated towards the prosperity of an individual being.
