Invisible inks have become the latest and the most common tool used by the criminals
for committing different type of white collar crimes. They are used for committing
crimes related to documents like wills, cheque, property papers, deeds, financial
documents, bills, contracts and many other important documents. These invisible inks
have become the most common tool for document related forgeries. Different brands
are available in the markets which provide invisible ink pens, the most common and the
oldest brand is Pilot. Hamley hamster, Cello, Vikson and many other brands also
manufacture these invisible ink pens. Thermochromic erasable ink and disappearing
ink are widely used for the same purpose.
Thermochromic erasable ink is the one which depends on the temperature. They are
also known as thermal ink. This thermal erasable ink disappears at high temperature
and again become visible when low temperature is provided. The thermal ink pens come
with a rubber erasure fitted either on the top or bottom of the pen which can be used to
generate heat by friction in order to remove the ink lines. This process of rubbing the
ink lines with the rubber erasure disturbs the fibers of the paper. The degree of
disturbance depends on the type of paper used and also on pressure used during the
rubbing process.
