dc.description | Stereotype refers to the mental element of how you feel about a particular group of people. It's
the image of other individuals that most people have in their heads. However, the picture
produced by people of other people is not always a genuine representation of reality. Stereotypes
hold the fixed belief that members of a particular community or group have certain personality
traits that influence their overall conduct. In terms of gender stereotypes, stereotypes relate to
specific characteristics that define and distinguish males and females in society. It starts within
the family itself and it is deeply rooted. In our society the stigma of a particular gender
performing certain work is assigned. Media plays a huge role in this. It is hard to believe but we
unconsciously start doing the things that is being displayed to us. Similar happens with the
gender role too. We are also being influenced by media and cinema as well. Gender stereotyping
is so pervasive in our culture that it has even gone so far as to define people's status and positions
based on their gender. Women's character qualities, for example, are thought to be unsuitable for
positions of higher authority. Even in the developed world, this mindset is not new. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Gender roles have been into our society from a very long time. We all have somehow felt that we
are assigned certain restricted roles based upon the fact that we are male or female. These roles
have limited many opportunities in the field of career and life as well. Stereotypes are promoted
and inculcated through various means. This paper will review that gender stereotypes and role
are just constructed and can be broken by the time. Gender stereotypes persist and are propagated
through the media, as well as social, educational, and recreational socialization, all of which
contribute to gender prejudice and discrimination. This study contends that modern management
culture fails to critically interact with gender studies' social theories, which could aid in the
development of gender-neutral affirmative action-oriented managerial viewpoints. The study
examines several facets of gender stereotypes and their impact on women's career advancements
from a managerial viewpoint, engaging with gender studies' critical ideas. Both males and
females suffer consequences when the gender role paradigm is broken. However, there is no
doubting that males suffer a more angry response to their crimes than females. If anything, the
ladies may be viewed positively in some circumstances. The question of desire is the next
frontier in gender stereotype perceptions. | en_US |
