THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACTS OF DIVERSIFYING OIL AND GAS UTILIZATION IN TANZANIA
Abstract
Socioeconomic Impact Assessment is the process of evaluating, assessing, monitoring and
managing expected or unexpected social and economic consequences of a proposed project
in a surrounding habitat. Assessment requires both qualitative and quantitative
measurements of the expected and unexpected impacts and it can either be positive or
negative impacts. Crude Oil is a mixture of hydrocarbon solids and gases dissolved in liquid
with a mixture of derivatives of oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen and other metals including cobalt,
calcium, sodium, and copper. This paper intends to addresses the origin, processes of
production and products involved in crude oil and natural gas. Pointing out the impacts of
these processes and products on the environment and the health of the public.
